Dear Parents,

Assalamu Alaykum,

IABC will reopen for IN-PERSON classes beginning on Sept 9th (2020), Insha’Allah. This decision is based on several factors. As Governor Murphy has noted in his latest Executive Order (Order #175):

  • The Department of Education has determined that in-person instruction provides students with academic, social, emotional, and mental health supports that cannot be provided with the same level of efficacy in a remote setting; and
  • The Department of Education has found that reopening schools for in-person instruction is critical in facilitating the social and emotional health of students and providing educators with the ability to actively participate in student learning, provide feedback, and promote active learning among students on a daily basis; and
  • The American Academy of Pediatrics has determined that in-person instruction is preferred over other forms of instructional delivery for reasons such as addressing and preventing learning loss, attending to students’ social and emotional well-being, and minimizing educational inequities resulting from the remote learning model;

Standard Operating Procedures

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

    • Arrival will begin at 7:55 AM and the doors will close at 8:15 AM, in order to allow sufficient time for the morning health screening process. Social Distancing is required throughout the process.
    • Daily temperature and symptoms screening will be conducted for all students, employees, and visitors to the facility
  • Further details regarding the arrival and dismissal procedures will be emailed next week.

Health Screening

    • Families are asked to monitor their household members for symptoms, including fever, and avoid bringing sick children to school.
    • Sending children with a fever to school after administering fever-reducing medicine is not acceptable.
    • Students with symptoms must remain at home with no symptoms for at least 24 hours before returning to school.
  • Daily temperature and symptoms screening will be conducted for all students, employees, and visitors to the facility. Students with symptoms will be separated from other students and parents/guardians will be contacted IMMEDIATELY to arrange pick-up

Temperature Checking
We will regularly check temperatures of students upon arrival at school. If your child presents with a temperature that is 100 F or above, your child will be sent home. Random temperature checks will be conducted as deemed necessary throughout the school day.

Updated sick policy and enforcement practices
Rules regarding sick policies for students and employees will be enhanced and strictly enforced to minimize the number of sick people on campus.

Air Ventilation
We will ensure that indoor facilities have adequate ventilation, including by: ensuring that recirculated air has a fresh air component; opening windows to increase fresh air; and maintaining filters for heating/cooling units with the highest level of Filtration (MERV 13).

Face Masks
Students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear face masks throughout the school day. Students and faculty will provide their own face masks but additional face masks will be available during the school day should one become lost or soiled.

Social Distancing/Desk Shields
Social distancing will be maintained throughout the school day including entering and exiting the facility, at lunch/recess time, etc. For the girls, the snack-house will be used for outdoor lunch, weather permitting. Boys will also have lunch outdoors on the benches, weather permitting. Inside the classrooms, plexiglass desk shields will be used for classrooms that require such enhancements to supplement physical distancing where necessary.

Enhanced Cleaning
– “High-touch” surfaces in common areas will be disinfected/sanitized regularly.
– Continued emphasis on good hygiene, most importantly, hand-washing and use of hand sanitizers
